Kirkkonummi’s Fyyri Became Truly Elegant
Opened to the public in October 2020, the Fyyri library building in Kirkkonummi is a magnificent multi-purpose building with space for hobbies, work, culture, meetings, and leisure.
YBT’s concrete expertise is beautifully showcased in the landmark building. Deliveries to Kirkkonummi included 11-meter white concrete pillars, 18-meter beams, and impressive entrance elements.
The project included a 2,500 square meter extension to the main library, as well as the renovation of the former library building of the same size. In addition to the main library, Fyyri now houses a resident park for families with children, a youth space, a music play school, and a café called Messi run by the municipality’s employment unit. The multi-purpose building also features reservable meeting and teaching spaces, freely usable workstations, and areas for musical performances and exhibitions.
Kirkkonummi’s Fyyri received the Architecture Finlandia Award in 2021.
