Prefabmästarna Sverige AB, owned by YBT and Lujabetoni, is expanding its capacity in Sweden

The concrete element company Prefabmästarna Sverige AB, owned by YBT and Lujabetoni, is expanding its capacity for upcoming industrial projects in Northern Sweden

With the green transition industrial investments, Prefabmästarna Sverige AB sees the concrete element market growing in Northern Sweden. To meet the increasing demands, the company has continuously developed its existing element business in Öjebyn and, to further strengthen its position, acquired 100% of the shares of Norsjö Betong AB through a business transaction on June 25, 2024. Prefabmästarna Sverige’s turnover was approximately €26 million in 2023, and Norsjö Betong’s turnover was approximately €6 million.

The green transition is driving major factory investments in the Norrbotten region, which is the northernmost area of Sweden. Following these factory investments, the region is expected to see an increase of up to 200,000 residents, which also means a bustling market for residential and service construction where Prefabmästarna’s products are in demand. Prefabmästarna Sverige AB’s Chairman of the Board, Mikko Isotalo, sees that the Northern Sweden market will not be limited to just elements but will also be very interesting for other company products.

– “We strongly believe in the Northern Sweden market, and our joint venture Prefabmästarna Sverige is now seeking significant expansion of its concrete element production capacity through the business acquisition,” says Mikko Isotalo. “The companies together employ about 130 specialists in the element sector, and unlike the manufacturing-focused business model in Finland, Prefabmästarna Sverige designs, manufactures, and installs most of the element frames it delivers, which sets a high skill requirement for our staff.”

– “We are very pleased with the business acquisition. Norsjö Betong is a long-standing and well-managed family business that has delivered high-quality products that meet customer needs for many years, especially high-quality wall elements. We are grateful to Norsjö Betong’s previous owner, Magnus Stenmark, whose trust allows us to continue developing the business in Norsjö,” says Mikko Isotalo. Norsjö Betong will initially continue as an independent company and will be merged into Prefabmästarna over time.

– “We are now building a strong position in the market and see significant synergy benefits that will strengthen our operations in Öjebyn and Norsjö in the long term. We are pleased that Magnus Stenmark has decided to continue with the business after the acquisition, and we welcome him and the rest of the staff to continue our journey together,” says Isotalo.

– “It feels right that one of Norsjö Betong’s most loyal customers and partners over the years becomes the owner of Norsjö Betong. I see that there is a lot of potential for expanding the element business in Northern Sweden, and now with a strong ownership structure that has the necessary expertise, we have good development opportunities and conditions for the business in the future,” says Magnus Stenmark.

– “The next natural step in our expansion is to establish ourselves in the coming years as a reliable partner also in the southern Sweden region. In the medium term, expanding into the busy construction area of Stockholm’s element market is a strategic goal for Prefabmästarna Sverige. We want to continue expanding and aim for our own element factory in the Stockholm area,” concludes Isotalo.
